The first few boxes of things were taken in today, mostly towels and kitchen stuff. While Kels and I got unpacked, our mother and little sister went back to school shopping, and since we were done putting things away earlier than expected we walked around downtown a bit to kill time. We seem to be close to a lot of nice restaurants and stores, so that's good.

Tomorrow stuff from the room is going in and we'll be staying the night. On Monday the last of our stuff is going and we'll officially be living on our own. I've gotta do a lot of job-hunting and we'll both need to use free wi-fi spots until our internet and phone is hooked up on the 11th.

We got it!

Not kidding, we got the apartment the day after we went to look at it. Apparently the guy leasing it got a good feeling from us. It's a very Anne-of-Green-Gables way of doing real estate, but hey! we don't have to do any more apartment hunting! Now all I got to worry about is looking for a new job now.

Mom and I are going to look at an apartment in town tomorrow to see if it's any good for me and my sister to possibly move into in the fall (Sis couldn't get time off work for the appointment, so she can't come). And I think I only have 12 more days of work before we're done for this year, and then I'm hopefully never coming back because I'll be in town where there are more job opportunities.

Just... wow, after so many months of feeling I've been stuck in a rut with little chance of getting out of it soon, the thought of moving out and being in a place where I'm able to do more things is almost liberating.

Facebook seems determined to spam my email these days. The constant "You have notifications pending" messages were bad enough (I don't care, okay, why do you think I'm ignoring them in the first place?!) but now I'm getting random alerts about friends' status updates. One of them was just someone saying they were going to a concert. Okay, good for them, but why does Facebook send an email to me for that? My stepmother keeps writing stuff and I get nothing about that. Heck, a friend I met online and added about a year ago celebrated her birthday today and I didn't get an email about that! That would have been nice to know earlier.

Anyway, complaining about how I think that site is more trouble than it's worth aside, our Run for the Cure team was a part of the community's giant yard sale today and that went well. I'm not sure the exact figure on what me made, but people were estimating $500 or so when you remove the float. I have a sunburn on the back of my neck and a bit along my cheeks but it's not too bad. It was still nice to have a day of good summer type weather, and the afternoon was slow enough that I could relax and read a book.

We had to get up at 6am to get things set up so now I'm going to bed, I just wanted to talk about some stuff first.

I read in the paper the other day that someone I went to film school with is in the midst of getting money to make a movie with a friend of his. It's great knowing that at least someone got something out of the school I didn't like at all.

There's an indiegogo page, if anyone's interested.

I got my hair cut short so now I won't have to worry about putting it up for work, my room is slowly becoming more organized, I have a giant bag of chocolate-covered almonds, and I have books I enjoy reading.

Life's not fantastic, but I'm pretty happy with how I spent my break.

Why is it that it's always right when I'm trying to fall asleep my brain decides to leap up and shout "WRITE THIS WRITE THIS!"

I've gotten all the damn ideas written down now, but why did this have to happen after midnight and not hours earlier when I was actually trying to write?
I am really wanting to order some books right now, but I'm not sure if that would be a good idea. Money isn't really an issue, since the order only comes to about $33 for three books and I have a lot saved up, but I'm trying to keep my buying urges down. If I don't, I'll definitely turn into a shopaholic.

The books (in case anyone's interested) are: The Little Prince, since I've heard so much praise for it but have never read it myself; Japan Through the Looking Glass, to help me better understand the culture of that country, both for fanfics and other projects that would make a book like this come in handy; and the Penguin Dictionary of Symbols, easily the nerdiest of my wanted purchases, and the heftiest, since this book has over a thousand pages. I love analyzing symbols in media, and I think this could also help me from not creating Pop Symbolism in my own stories.

Chances are I'll cave by the end of today, but I'm going to try not to!

I also downloaded a program called OmmWriter today. I'd seen a friend on Tumblr talking about it awhile back and decided to check it out. The website will give any information you need on the program, and the best thing is it's cheap! I'm using the free version right now, but the update only requires a payment of $4.11 and anything higher than that would be given by the customer just wanting to show their support. So far I can't get over how adorable this is, the ambient sounds are great. I'm really hoping this will help stop my bad procrastination habits when it comes to writing.

How are you celebrating Leap Day?

Pathetically. I slept in till 2pm today since I didn't have work today.
My life has been almost pathetically boring lately. I say "almost" because I at least feel content with how things are going, which is leagues better than being annoyed at every little thing or being caught in a panic of "Ah! What if I never accomplish anything in my life?!"

So, a quick rundown of what's been going on lately:

- I helped at a dinner our Run for the Cure team put together at the beginning of the month. This was the only thing of great merit I've done.
- I am quickly trying to finish up the icon claim I did for solo20in20
- I've begun replaying Majora's Mask not only because I want to, but also because it might finally get me to write that fic idea I've had for it for awhile.
- I got my very own copy of Persona 4 so now I can check and double-check things whenever I want, yay!
- I've also been getting some work done on original stories, though I still have quite a lot more work to do on them yet.
- My grandmother got a puppy! He's a little golden lab named Max, and he's the most pudgy, laid-back thing you've ever seen. Her older dog doesn't like him very much, but hopefully that will change for the better soon enough.
